Arastradero Preserve

Hiking at the Arastradero Preserve,

This is a relatively small preserve it is located in Palo Alto just west of I-280 off of Arastradero Rd. There are 10 miles of hiking trails with vista points that give a nice view of the bay area all the way to San Francisco. The trails are about 30% in the shade so a hat is highly recommended. There is room for about 25 cars in the parking area. Acterra has done a great job in building a suedo ranger station that has a small exhibit of animals that can be found in the preserve and three bathrooms and a water fountain. The preserve is on the other side of Arastradero Rd. relative to the parking area. There has been a controlled burn in the preserve so you will see about 13 acres of blackened terrain. The controlled burn was done to eliminate non native plants that were growing in the preserve. There is a small lake in the preserve (Arastradero Lake) that gets its water from the Arastradero Creek.

Enjoy hiking at the Arastradero Preserve.
